Note about my Reviews

Dear Authors: The reviews in this blog are only personal opinions. I have absolutely no background in literature, writing or reviewing. I am a Librarian (actually a Library Technician for those who care OR know the difference) with a love for a good story. The opinions in the reviews are ONLY my OPINIONS. I am not commenting on the writers ability since well -- I am not a writer and never will be. If you are the author of any of the books reviewed here, my opinion is just that and not a judgment against you!

Description: When twenty-something Wall Street analyst Kate Wilson attracts the notice of the legendary Julian Laurence at a business meeting, no ones more surprised than she is. Julians relentless energy and his extraordinary intellect electrify her, but shes baffled by his sudden interest. Why would this handsome British billionaireManhattans most eligible bachelorpursue a pretty but bookish young banker who hasnt had a boyfriend since college?

The answer is beyond imagining . . . at least at first. Kate and Julians story may have begun not in the moneyed world of twenty-first-century Manhattan but in France during World War I, when a mysterious American woman emerged from the shadows of the Western Front to save the life of Captain Julian Laurence Ashford, a celebrated war poet and infantry officer.

Now, in modern-day New York, Kate and Julian must protect themselves from the secrets of the past, and trust in a true love that transcends time and space

The Good Stuff
  • Wasn't my thing -- not a big fan of time travel or contemporary romance so its hard to give this a fair review
  • Fast paced and a good twist on the time travel plot
  • Lots of romance and sweet declarations of love - again not my thing but if you like that sort of thing pick this up
  • Happy Ending
  • Author has a nice way with words which kept me reading eventhough the storyline didn't do it for me
  • Would be good cottage read romance with  some mystery and intrigue
The Not So Good Stuff
  • Story jumps around so much I found myself lost with not real connection to the couple
  • Found hero a little too good to be true
  • Time travel books always give me a headache as I spend way too much time going -- that makes no sense - Sorry Miss Williams its not you its me
  • Everything happens way too quickly for this jaded reader
Favorite Quotes/Passages

"Sorry," I said. "My mom doesn't leave until Sunday morning."
"Then she can join us."
I snorted. "Julian, honestly, I don't even think Dante could have imagined anything worse than that idea. Try again."

"Well," he told my cleavage, slowly."

{via e-mail}
Julian: Foxhunting.
Me: Seriously?
Julian: Yes.
Me: You murderer. The poor fox.
Julian: The fox is a rural menance. You modern city-dwellers have the most idiotic romantic notions about wildlife.

Who Should/Shouldn't Win
  • If you are a fan of contemporary romance with a time travel twist you will enjoy this
